Year in Review 1st July 2023 - 1st July 2024

EVENTS ORGANISED:

  • Over 100 protests and leafleting events.

LEAFLETS DISTRIBUTED:

  • 36,000

EMAILS / MESSAGES FROM THE PUBLIC:

  • We received hundreds of emails and messages via our social media pages in the past year from members of the public asking questions, seeking advice, requesting information, reporting animal cruelty and wanting to join our campaigns.

CAMPAIGN NEWS:

  • We supplied activists around the country with leaflets to campaign in their own areas for a ban on hare coursing.
  • In March, together with Animal Rebellion Ireland, we released our very first investigation on the pig industry in Ireland. This resulted in a huge amount of both media and political coverage, and a Dept. of Agriculture investigation.
  • We organised events twice a week, and travelled the country doing leaflet drops, outreach and canvassing for the bill to ban hare coursing. We also lobbied many TDs during protests outside the Dept. of Agriculture.
  • We supported the ICABS protest at the hare coursing finals in Clonmel.
  • We supported My Lovely Horse Rescue’s protests at ‘Shannonside Foods’ and the Dáil.
  • We took part in and spoke at Dublin Vegfest.
  • We attended the International Animal Rights Conference in Luxembourg.
  • Along with other organisations and members of the public, we lobbied the Botanic Gardens to stop using lethal squirrel traps.
  • We had information stalls at the Anarchist Bookfair, Transition Longford, the Radical Bookfair, the Irish Vegan Festival in Belfast and the Stoneybatter Festival.
  • Screened our pig investigation video at Dublin City Council.
  • Attended, in solidarity, marches on issues such as bodily autonomy, anti-racism, anti-fascism, Palestine, Dublin Pride, Trans & Intersex Pride.
  • Sent in numerous FOIs to the Dept. of Agriculture, as well as PQs via TDs, on hare coursing and animal agriculture.
  • Took part in various radio and newspaper interviews, and debates on animal rights issues throughout the year.
  • Worked with a number of ‘left’ politicians during the local and European elections, to ensure pledges of support for animal rights issues.
